Animate with every breath

  Follow the impulse

Inspiration comes in the making. Start where you are, with what you have, allows things to come to existence and the creativity to flow.

Antoine Cenebrouke, an architect, once decided to follow director Michel Gondry's advice and start doing animation. Here a stopmotion tutorial from Gondry (in French) :

Antoine Cenebrouke then built his own animation stand et started making very accessible, diy, tinkered forms that were determined by his pratical constrains.

As he made more films, he became better and more ambitious, still between the four walls of his appartment. The "amateur", tinkered  look became a style.

Antoine Cenebrouke is not a professional film maker. But actual directors do make "kitchen sink films", small tinkered forms from what they can animate in their direct environnement.

Jonathan Hodgson made a very short film from the rug he was looking at as he was looking for an idea for a no budget project.  Rug https://vimeo.com/142022401

A crazy idea

Develop the idea

Adjustment, Ian McKinnon's short film, mixes live action and animation. It tells the story of a break up from the point of view of an animator who tries to gather the last strands of the relationship with making flip books.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cs9G0Y0opVI
